Part 2 of the pilot for Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Harvest. In this episode, I discuss the evolution of the series and my likes and dislikes of the first season. As always, suggestions and feedback are welcome and encouraged.
On the nature of vampirism: I always took it that the idea that nothing of the person is left after they become a vampire was just Watcher propaganda. We see hints that it isn\'t true as early as this episode with Jesse\'s contuining to chase after Cordelia. We continue to see this claim brought up even in the face of proof otherwise, such as in Doppelgangland.
On Pike: Obviously, the series retconned a lot of things from the movie. It was alsways my impression that in the cannon of the series, Pike never existed. Joss has said that he was basically split into Xander and Oz. He did have several later appearances in the comics, too. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pike_%28Buffyverse_character%29
Oh, and Buffy\'s parents were both in the movie, though only briefly.
This still doesn\'t answer the eternal question: should I actually watch the movie?...
